Bhanu Swami (Bhānu Svāmī, English: Bhanu Swami; birth name - Bruce Enomoto, English: Bruce Enomoto; born 1948, Bralorn, British Columbia, Canada) - Krishna religious leader and preacher;[1][2] disciple Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896-1977) and one of the spiritual leaders International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).[3][4] S 2002 - Member of Governing Body of ISKCON.[5] Oversees ISKCON activities in South India and Japan.

Bhanu Swami has translated Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada's books and commentaries from English to Japanese and has been translating and publishing Medieval Krishna theologians from Bengali and Sanskrit but in English.[6]

Biography

Early years

Bruce Enomoto was born in 1948 in the Bralorn gold mining village in the south of British Columbia.[7] He was the third and youngest child of Steven Shuichi Enomoto (1909-2008) and Ellen Enomoto (nee Nimi).[7] Steven was from Vancouver and came from the family of Tsunetaro Enomoto (1868-1921) and Ume Enomoto (nee Yoshioka) - Japanese immigrants from the city of Hiroshima.[7] Stephen's childhood and adolescence passed in New Westminster E.[7] After graduating from high school in 1928, he studied to be an auto mechanic and married Ellen Nimi in 1942.[7] Soon after the newlyweds were forced to marry relocated from the pacific coast to a working village Minto.[7] Ellen's parents and brothers also ended up there.[7] Bruce's older brothers, Randy, were born in Minto and Dennis.[7]
