Bharatha Prabhashana Thennakoon (Sinhala: භාරත ප්රභාෂණ තෙන්නකෝන් also known as Bharatha Thennakoon; born 3 March 1988)[1] is a Sri Lankan author and journalist.[2]
Early life and education[edit]
Thennakoon Mudiyanselage Bharatha Malinda Prabhashana Thennakoon was born on 3 March 1988 in Polgahawela, the son of Jayathilake Thennakoon, a senior lawyer in Kurunegala and Damayanthi Thennakoon. He is the youngest of two; his sister Nishani.
He completed his primary education in St. Bernedette's Model School, Polgahawela and in the year 1999 he moved to Kandy for his secondary education. Bharatha passed his G.C.E. (Advanced Level) in 2007 at St. Sylvester's College, Kandy. Then he entered to Open University of Sri Lanka and graduated in Bachelor of Laws. He completed his Diploma of Journalism in 2005 at the National Institute of Television Training, Sri Lanka.
Bharatha married Wasana Nimali Senarath in 2016.[3]

Politics[edit]
Bharatha pledged his support to Maithripala Sirisena's victory in the 2015 Sri Lankan presidential election[13] and then he was appointed as News Editor to the President. And he supported the United National Party in the 2015 Sri Lankan parliamentary election. Bharatha supported Sajith Premadasa, the candidate of the New Democratic Front (Sri Lanka) party in the 2019 Sri Lankan presidential election.[14]
