The Biafra Liberation Army (BLA) is a military organization that was announced in September 2023 by Simon Ekpa to fight for the independence of Biafra,[2] a partially recognised country in West Africa that declared independence from Nigeria and existed from 1967 until 1970.[3]

Background

The militia group was established by the Finland-based politician and activist Simon Ekpa,[4] together with the Biafra Resistance Fighters (BRF) under the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BiafraRGIE).[5]
