Biagio Izzo (Naples, 13 November 1962) is an actor, stand-up comedian, playwriter and italian television channel presenter.

Carreer[edit]

In 1983 he formed a comedic duo with another comedian, Ciro Maggio, calling themselves Bibì & Cocò. Izzo then had success with TeleGaribaldi, on the local Campanian Canale 9, and later with "Pirati" and "Pirati Show", on TeleNapoli34, but he got his name out on a national level with the TV programme Macao, hosted by Alba Parietti. After his experience with TeleGaribaldi, he opened the "Cabaret Portalba" (ex Bruttini Theatre). In the early 2000's he was present in christmas movies along with Boldi and De Sica: Body Guards - Guardie del corpo (2000), Merry Christmas (2001), Natale sul Nilo (2002), Natale in India (2003), and participated many times in Buona Domenica.

After that, Izzo has his cinematographic and television ascesion. In fact his appearance on the big screen intensified even more. In 2004, he participated in the movie In questo mondo di ladri, along with Carlo Buccirosso and Ricky Tognazzi, under the direction of Carlo Vanzina. In 2005 he appeared in the film <i id="mwLA">Cose da pazzi</i> with Vincenzo Salemme and Maurizio Casagrande, under the direction of the former Salemme. In 2007 he obtained his first direction at national level, being in charge of the programme Stasera mi butto, toghether with Caterina Balivo (with which he directed Miss Italia nel mondo the following year).

In 2008 he was part of the cast for the programme Volami nel cuore, and went back to work with Boldi in Matrimonio alle Bahamas (2007) and La fidanzata di papà (2008). He also started a career in theater, still with his comedic character, which would see him under the direction of Claudio Insegno and Pino Insegno in Tutto per Eva, solo per Eva, C'è un uomo nudo in casa, Due comici in Paradiso, Il re di New York, Una pillola per piacere, Un tè per tre, Guardami guardami and Tutti con me, Esse o esse, Come un Cenerentolo, all written by Bruno Tabacchini and Biagio Izzo.

In 2010 he was in the cast for Rai 2's programme Il più grande (italiano di tutti i tempi), hosted by Francesco Facchinetti. In 2012 he got with Paola Perego in Rai 1 programme Attenti a quei due - La sfida. Also in 2012 with Maurizio Casagrande and Pino Insegno he appeared in Una donna per la vita, as well as Massimo Boldi and Maurizio Mattioli in the TV movie <i>Natale a 4 zampe</i>.

On the 31st of December 2014 he is invited by Gigi D'Alessio in his New Year's Day programme Capodanno con Gigi D'Alessio. From the 13th of April 2015 he takes part as competitor in the second edition of Si può fare! with hosted by Carlo Conti on Rai 1, where he wins. In 2019 he joins with the cast of Made in Sud on Rai 2, hosted by Stefano De Martino and Fatima Trotta he also participates as team leader in <i id="mwYg">La sai l’ultima?</i> on Canale 5, hosted by Ezio Greggio.In September 2021 he joins in the eleventh edition of Tale e quale show coming last and the next year he is called to duet with Gabriele Cirilli and Francesco Paolantoni at the fourth episode as Placido Domingo, in an imitation of The Three Tenors.

Judicial proceedings[edit]

In 2018 the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples asked for the house arrest for the plaintiff on charges of bid rigging, as part of an investigation of the Guardia di Finanza on alleged wrongdoings in tax collection procedures and in the subsequent phases of forced execution. The arrest warrant was however rejected by the judge of the preliminary investigations. The Public Prosecutor's Office reiterated the request but the Review Court also rejected the arrest request.

For his part, the actor has ensured that he is completely unrelated to the affair[1]. On 7 October 2020 he was indicted for these charges, as according to the magistrates he would have attempted to repurchase through a nominee some assets that had been seized and auctioned off in 2015 due to a tax debt to Equitalia Equitalia[2].

Private Life[edit]

He grew up in the Vesuvian zone, between Ercolano and Portici. He had 2 kids from the first wife Teresa, which he divorced. Then he had 2 more kids with his second wife, Model Federica Apicella, which he married in Naples the 30th of August 2008. In 2018 he becomes grandfather for the first time. His first jobs were erecting tombstones, bricklayer, blacksmith and house painter to help his family, even at an early age.
