Death threat
On the night of May 25, 2025, Emiway Bantai released the song Tribute to Siddhu Moosewala as a tribute to the popular Punjabi music artist Siddhu Moosewala who was assassinated.[12][13] On the same day, the mobile number registered with Emiway Bantai's management received a text which stated the following : “I am gangster Goldy Brar. Your singer has 24 hours. I want rupees 1 crore or else I will kill him". The messages were believed to have been sent by Goldy Brar, a Canada based close associate of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.[14] The threat message sent to the rapper also mentioned the name of United States of America based gangster Rohit Godara.[15] A ransom of rupees 1 crore was asked by the gangsters. On May 27th, a police complaint was filed through an employee.[16]
On June 5, 2025, an 18/19 year old student from Assam, India named Arulv Rameshkumar Alohi was arrested for allegedly sending the threats.[17][18] The police traced his digital footprints and subsequently arrested him. The police learnt that the accused has sent such threats to other music artists in the past as well. The accused told the police that he just wanted to make some quick money and get famous through this method.[19]
