Birmingham Vulcans Rugby
The Birmingham Vulcans are an active Division II Rugby Union club located in Birmingham, Alabama. The team was established in 1967 and is a current member of the USA Rugby True South Union. The team competes in both 15’s and 7’s competitions, year-round.[1]
The team's home games are played at Erskine Ramsay Park, in Birmingham, AL. Allen Kipp is the current head coach of the 15's side.
Club History[edit]
The club was founded in 1967 by the Krebs brothers (Chris, Ed, Mark, Paul, Tom, and Van).
Their first match was played on December 23, 1967 against Huntsville, AL.[2]
Playoff Appearances and Championships[edit]
The Birmingham Vulcans are the reigning True South Division II Champions.[3]
Annual Tournaments[edit]
Along with competing in Men's 7s and 15s rugby matches, the Birmingham Vulcans also host an annual Rugby 7s tournament in Birmingham, AL every June, known as Vulcans 7s. 2018 was the 35th year of the tournament.
