From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Birmingham Wasps Hockey Club was a women's hockey club based in Birmingham UK which was wound up at the end of the 2017/18 season. It was affiliated to England Hockey[1] and was a member of Warwickshire Women's Hockey League[2]

Origin[edit]

The club was formed in the summer of 1997 when Yardley (which used to be known as Birmingham Municipal) and Kynock ladies hockey teams agreed to merge. The first match is not definitively recorded but is likely to have been away against Kings Heath (according to the club accounts).

Wasps played in the Warwickshire Women's Hockey League (WWHL) from their formation and until 2017/18 also played in the Tunnicliffe League. As a new club, Wasps started in division 4 and that is where they played when WWHL records began in season 2001/02[3]

The club spent most time in division 3 but it reached a peak when it spent one season in division 2 in 2016/17[4]. The table below shows the positions in WWHL for the seasons available.
