Bitbar
Bitbar is a Finnish mobile software development and testing company, with offices in San Jose, Helsinki[1], Oulu and Wrocław. Bitbar offers Bitbar Cloud (previously known as Testdroid), a solution for enabling mobile DevOps. The purpose of the platform is to enable mobile teams to fully automate every stage of their mobile delivery process and accelerate mobile software development life cycle.
History[edit]
Bitbar was founded by Marko Kaasila[2][3], Jouko Kaasila, and Sakari Rautiainen in Helsinki in 2009.
In March 2012, Bitbar announced an initial seed funding from five angel investors and Scandinavian early stage investor Finnvera Venture Capital[4] along with the public release of Testdroid[5], a cloud-based testing platform[6] allowing developers to test apps on Android[7][8] and iOS powered devices simultaneously. In June, the company attended Google I/O 2012.[9]
In April 2013, Bitbar closed a venture round of $3 million from Creathor Ventures, DFJ Esprit, Finnvera Venture Capital, Finland's TEKES and Qualcomm.[10][11]
In September 2014, Bitbar enabled free access to Intel Atom based Android devices for mobile application and game testers.[12][13]
In May 2015, Bitbar raised an undisclosed Series A funding round from Inventure and existing investors.[14] Investors were quoted as being attracted by Bitbar's strong customer base, including Google, PayPal, Rovio, Supercell, Microsoft, Facebook, LinkedIn, and eBay.[15]
In September 2018, Bitbar launched an artificial intelligence driven mobile app testing solution[16] with the announcement of AI Testbot[17].
Products[edit]
Bitbar offers Bitbar Cloud (previously Testdroid Cloud[18]), a mobile development and testing platform with Public Cloud, Private Cloud and On-Premise (previously Testdroid Enterprise[19]).
The platform comprises two major components: Bitbar Testing for mobile app testing on physical devices and Bitbar Monitoring for synthetic monitoring of mobile apps. It supports virtualization technology such as containers and virtual machine images and provides support for many native Android and iOS testing frameworks. It also integrates with DevOps tools in the areas of build automation, continuous integration, team collaboration, and issue tracking like JIRA[20].
