BlackBerry Messenger Enterprise (BBMe) is a paid, end-to-end encrypted Instant messaging application from the Canadian technology company BlackBerry Limited.[1][2] The messaging app is based on a renewed, add-free version of Blackberry Messenger (BBM (software)), which was first published in 2005 as the first mobile Instant messaging service and enjoyed great popularity worldwide for years before it was finally discontinued in 2019.[3][4][5] The BBMe app is available on all common platforms such as Google Android, Apple iOS / macOS, Windows (for PC and notebook) and BlackBerry OS 10.[6] BBMe is aimed primarily at business customers, but is also available for private customers. Since this is a paid messaging app, the costs for a 6-month subscription for Android and iOS are currently around 2.49 $/ 2,39 £.[7][8] Current BlackBerry smartphones such as the BlackBerry Key2, BlackBerry Motion or BlackBerry KeyOne should currently be free of charge for at least 12 months. Except of installing the program, all you need to do to for using BlackBerry Messenger Enterprise is to create a free BlackBerry ID (= user account) with an email address.[9][10][11] In general, the software impresses with its appealing design, logical menu structures and a focus on security.[12] In comparison to other instant messaging offers, BBMe can be used on multiple devices independently from the other devices. In addition, all personal contents are saved automatically without the need for extra backups.[13]
