BlackWeald is a Dark Ambient project formed in Hungary in 2020. The project released several concept albums, one being over 11 hours long and also had singles composed for various international compilation albums.

Music themes and style[edit]

Mostly inspired by black metal, experimental and hip-hop music, BlackWeald cites Earth, Godflesh, Swans and Burzum as main influences on the project.[1]

The project's musical foundation is Dark Ambient, often using samples and loops, but it also incorporates guitars (acoustic and electric), ethnic and ritualistic instruments, field recordings and black metal tropes. While it's mostly instrumental, several tracks has spoken word segments[2][3]. The music is described as cinematic and haunting, with distressing, dramatic and tension-filled moments.[4][5][6][2][7]. On its latest album, the project experimented with the Drone metal genre[8]

The project's releases are often described as concept albums[2], sometimes providing a musical narrative by going through the events of a true story (Leonov about the Voskhod 2 mission[9], She and the Devil's Sons telling the legend of Hollókő).
