Black Bone Nation is a hard-rock band from Johannesburg, South Africa.

Biography[edit]

The band was formed in June 2015 by guitarists and front-man Zakk Styles in Cape Town, South Africa, with then vocalist, Etienne Blomerus (Known as Ziggy). Shortly after Blomerus stepped out, Styles took over the role of lead vocalist whilst relocating to Johannesburg, South Africa. Here, Brendan Forer (Lead Guitars), Henri Viljoen (Drums) and Leroux Engelbrecht (Bass Guitars) completed the line-up in 2016. During this period the band received the 2015 Deafness Radio "Underground band of the year" award in Germany.[1]

The band released their debut self-titled EP "Black Bone Nation" in March 2018, featuring 6 hard-rock tracks which saw them receiving the Banks Radio Australia "Single of the Year", and "Overall Single of the Year" awards for their song "Backseat Lover" [2] . Two official music videos for their songs "Backseat Lover", and "Blacked Out" were released as part of the album launch during 2018.

The band has released "cover" versions of popular songs such as "Highway to hell" - AC/DC, "Whiskey in the jar" - The Dubliners, and "Queen of sorrow" - Zakk Wylde in between their studio albums and touring duties.

Known for their intense and energetic live shows, the band has becoming important fixtures and regular headliners of various major South African rock festivals such as "Rockin Bloem", and "Klimaxx Festival". The band has played alongside various local acts[3], including , Fokofpolisiekar, Jack Parow, Francois van Coke, Wonderboom, Majozi, Piet Botha and The Narrow. [4][5]
