Black Diamond Capital Management is an American private equity firm, based in Greenwich, Connecticut, that specializes in distressed debt, mezzanine, and turnaround investments in middle market. Black Diamond has over $8 billion in assets under management and provides services to institutional investors including pension funds, endowment funds, and insurance companies.[3] The firm focuses on investing in debt securities that offer structural protection with underlying assets. Black Diamond has three lines of business: control distressed/private equity, hedge fund and CLO vehicles.[2][4]

The firm was founded in 1995 and has over 30 employees with offices in Greenwich, Connecticut; Lake Forest, Illinois; London, England; and USVI.[2]

83.2 percent of Black Diamond's portfolio is held in Hawaiian Telcom for 2.65 million shares.[5]

In the third quarter of 2016, Black Diamond raised its stake in Saratoga Investment Corp by 2.7 percent, owning 621,064 shares valued at $11,074,000.[6]

In December 2016, Black Diamond voted against heavy equipment supplier, Emeco's, restructuring and later supported the company's plans to merge with Orionstone and Andy's Earthmoving. Black Diamond could become roughly a 34 percent maximum shareholder in Emeco.[7][8]
