Black lives matter is more than just a saying or a reference. It has a way deeper meaning that goes back hundreds of years. In 2020 the phrase was used during multiple acts of discrimination against people of color. Trying to highlight these acts of racism people from all over gathered to show their support for one another. Even in todays world these acts of racism and discrimination are still very present all across the United States. The social movement was formed in 2013, but the sad reality is that most people were not even aware of it until the events unfolded in 2020. Many black lives were innocently taken at the hands of police officers. These disgusting acts of discrimination are not wanted on American soil anymore and is the sole reason why people are so fed up with these things. Hundreds of years later and people of color still feeling the affects of racism and discrimination. After all of these events unfolded many people from all across the country came together with a clear message in mind and that was that Black Lives Mattered and were not going to stop until the message was clear for everyone. All this started back in 2013 with the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin. An innocent life was taken away from this earth without any reasoning. Black lives matter isn't just a political movement. It has a way deeper meaning that is bigger than a lot of people and people need to realize the rippling affects that these events have on so many of their peers. It has become one of the biggest movements in US history as it deservingly should be. It is a globally known as everyone wants to be able to have an opportunity to make change that should have been dealt with hundreds of years ago. According to the New York Times, 40% of the country was protesting favor and that was only during the first week of all of the protests going on in 2020. Although 100% of the country should be in on these protest, 40% is just a week in and those numbers only went up with time. Still in 2022 we hear about the black lives matter movement and that should not go anywhere til everything is settled and people come to the reality that things need to change and change quickly. Everyone should be treated fair and equal across the United States and lots of change is necessary for the whole country and all across the globe. Helping each other and educating one another on the affects these events have are going to be huge for many Americans as we all learn to come together as one. We need to set in motion change and that does not happen with a small group of people. Everyone is needed in order to make the change. Innocent lives of many black people get taken every day and their families and peers deserve answers. It is unfair and the acts can not go on for any longer. Black lives matter needs to be talked about everyday and discussed all over it needs to be a standard for everyone and its disappointing that it is even a thing. It is the sad reality that we live in and the next steps is change and we need to be one. There is one standard and that is black lives matter. Everyone matters in this country and coming together is only going to make us stronger and happier as a whole. Seeing the progress that has been made by such a powerful movement is very inspirational, but the change does not stop there. We should be happy with the moves that have been made to make this country a better place and continue to make the black lives matter the most important thing on our agenda as a country.
