Black Tomato is a travel company based in London, United Kingdom, with a US office in New York. The company specialises in luxury travel to all seven continents, offering a range of unique and tailor-made experiences.
History[edit]
The company was founded in 2005 by Tom Marchant, James Merrett and Matt Smith, three friends.[2] The founding premise was that travel agencies in the early 2000s were largely uninspiring and could be done differently. All remain co-founders and hold active roles in the company.[3]
Past experience initiatives include sending a Hollywood cinematographer or renowned photographer to film a video of a client’s sailing vacation,[4][5] a ‘panic button’ to arrange a holiday instantly,[6][7][8] a ‘get lost’ experience whereby a traveller will be taken to a secret location for an unknown adventure[9][10][11][12] and a pop-up hotel service.[13]
In 2010, Black Tomato founded Black Tomato Agency, a UK-based travel incentive and prize agency, and in 2015 it founded Studio Black Tomato, a creative agency.[14]
