Blaire Erskine

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Blaire Erskine (born August 25, 1991) is an American writer, comedian, and actress. She is best known for her character videos on social media, which have amassed millions of views since Erskine's first viral success in July 2020..[1] Erskine has been featured in publications like The Washington Post[2] and The New York Times.[3] In September 2020, Times comedy critic Jason Zinoman described Erskine as "prolific," calling her his "current favorite" viral star.[3]

Early life[edit]

Erskine was born in Kennesaw, Georgia, later moving with her mother to Ellaville, Georgia when she was four-years-old. In an interview with USA Today's Naveed Jamali, Erskine called Ellaville "a great place," saying, "I loved growing up there. I had a giant yard, I lived in the middle of nowhere, I had, like, three channels on television." After high school, Erskine moved to Atlanta, Georgia and studied Film & TV at Georgia State University.[4]

Career[edit]

In 2015, Erskine began taking improv classes at the Village Theatre in Atlanta. Two years later, she ventured into stand-up comedy. After months of performing at open mics across Atlanta, Erskine became a weekend regular at Atlanta's famous Laughing Skull Lounge, and soon began traveling throughout the South East as both a feature comic and headliner.

Viral videos[edit]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Erskine began posting front-facing character videos to social media, poking fun at various celebrities as well as subjects of viral videos. In July 2020, she uploaded a video in which she portrayed the wife of Dan Maples,[1] a disgruntled Costco customer who went viral for refusing to wear a mask. The video, captioned, "That's my husband Dan Maples in that video from Costco and I have some things to say!!" was an instant success, garnering millions of views overnight. Since then, Erskine has continued making videos satirizing the current political climate. Some of her most popular characters include Jerry Falwell's daughter,[5] UGA sorority girl Mary-Mary Katherine,[6] and the wife of Q from Qanon[7]
