Blessing Bags is a small international humanitarian aid program started in 2015 as a way to help provide humanitarian aid to children and families with little more than the clothes they are wearing. The non-profit is a 501(c)3 that operates on a shoestring budget and accepts donations to help their aid workers that is on the ground in countries like Ukraine and Iraq.
The overall goal of the program focuses on children, specifically orphans, in providing clothing, shoes, food and basic medical needs. The aid workers additionally helps widows by offering heating oil for the winter months and foods such as rice, flour and vegetables. They also offer basic education to children with reading, writing and math and for older children, they teach English as a way to be an interpreter and carpentry as a fundamental way to have skills to work.
The program helps roughly 400 children annually, including several families
The program is based in Roanoke, Virginia and operates on a roughly $30,000 USD budget which is almost 100% driven by individual donations.
