Blob (Foreign Policy)

The "blob" is term coined by Ben Rhodes,[1] a staffer in the Obama administration, to refer to the foreign policy establishment which emerged in the United States following the end of the Cold War. Members of the blob dominated the administrations of George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Members of the blob typically work as diplomats, journalists or participants at think tanks.

Members of the blob are characterized by their support for neo liberal economics, international institutions such as the World Trade Organization, moderate domestic policies and hawkish foreign policy.[2]
