Blockasset is a blockchain-based sports platform connecting famous athletes, clubs, sports and ticketing agencies, and fans. Built on the Solana blockchain, it aims to bring athletes and their followers together in the post-pandemic space, creating a deeper level of fan engagement via non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and other novel technologies.

The project has partnered with a number of famous athletes and has already led some of them to notable success in the crypto space. In July 2021, Italian football captain Giorgio Chiellini broke the Solana sales record. at the time with his ‘Gladiator’ NFT collection.

On 4th November 2021, ‘LeGENds’’ NFT collection of 10,000 non-fungible tokens created in partnership with top-tier athletes such as Muhammad Ali and Alexander Ovechkin, dropped in Times Square, New York. ‘Legends’ sold out in 9 minutes, gathering $5 million; NFT buyers got access to exclusive club membership, and discounts on upcoming drops.

Concept

Blockasset connects fans and their favorite athletes by utilizing the blockchain technology, non-fungible tokens, and fan tokens. With the help of the platform, athletes can create and promote their own tokens to offer their fans a deeper level of engagement and exclusive benefits. Token holders, in turn, get access to unique real-life and virtual perks, as well as the right to have a say in the team’s decisions.

Fan engagement

NFT holders get access to unique real and virtual merchandise, exclusive fan clubs, AMAs, chats & meets, voting on key athlete decisions, competing against them in fantasy sports leagues, as well as the upcoming P2E games. Little thought-through details like a virtual sticker book add to the atmosphere of true fanship.

$BLOCK token

The Blockasset ecosystem is powered by the $BLOCK token. BLOCK holders get discounts on NFT purchases, token burn, token staking, access to monthly NFT drops and member-only events, NFT farming, boosting NFT listings, and platform governance.

History and partnerships

Blockasset was founded in April 2021 by a team of professional athletes, entrepreneurs, sports scientists, and blockchain developers. Darren Till, a mixed martial artist, and former Muay Thai kickboxer, is one of the founders, as well as the first athlete to have issued their NFTs within the platform.

To this day, the project has partnered with a number of sports stars and companies from DLT and gaming industries, including Solana Capital and Animoca Brands. The list of Blockasset’s advisors features Joe McCann, Strategist (M&A, Incubations, Startups), Cloud + AI, Developer Division at Microsoft, and a respected trader, and Nikolai Onken, Nangu Co-Founder, former AWS Amsterdam Site Lead, and former VP Engineering at Cloud 9.

NFT drops

Blockasset has partnered with a number of sports icons to bring more utility to its users.

Giorgio Chiellini

In July 2021, professional Italian footballer Giorgio Chiellini set a new price record for NFT sales on Solana in partnership with Blockasset. Chiellini’s NFT, The Gladiator, was sold for $58,989 (2001 SOL). The buyer got the opportunity to meet the athlete in person, received a signed shirt, and two tickets for an upcoming match

‘LeGENds’ NFT collection

In November 2021, Blockasset partnered with five iconic athletes on creating the ‘LeGENds’ NFT collection. These were ex England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney, ex-UFC champion, sports analyst, and commentator Mike Bisping, world-renowned New Zealand rugby superstar Jonah Lomu, international hockey star Alexander Ovechkin, and the boxing legend Muhammad Ali.

‘LeGENds’ became the world’s first joint collection with sports stars of this caliber. It featured art by digital artist Dosbrak, who evoked some of the most memorable moments of the athletes' careers. The NFTs were verified by each of the athletes – or, in the case of Lomu and Ali, their official executors.

10,000 collectible tokens with different degrees of rarity dropped on the official platform on November 4, 2021. The official presentation of the Legends took place in Times Square, New York, where artworks featuring the five legends were demonstrated on one of the Countdown screens. Darren Till and Mike Bisping presented the collection and the concept behind it, while BT Sports and The Mac Life covered the event.

The collection sold out in 9 minutes, with all 10,000 NFTs being taken at Raydium Drop Zone, the NFT exchange that hosted the drop. NFT holders got exclusive perks, including access to the exclusive 'LeGENds Club'.

Future Plans

NFT Marketplace (Q4 2021)

Alongside the launchpad, Blockasset plans to launch an NFT marketplace with low fees and fast processing times, which will enable NFT holders to trade and profit off of their holdings. The marketplace will include athlete pages and support fiat payments as well as crypto.

NFT farm (Q1 2022)

In the first quarter of 2022, the project will introduce farming and staking for $BLOCK and NFT holders.

'LeGENds Gen 2' NFT drop (Q1 2022)

There are more NFT drops planned for 2022, including but not limited to the 'LeGENds Gen 2' NFT drop.

Play-to Earn Gaming Suite (Q2 2022)

The launch of the first play-to-earn NFT game on Blockasset (exclusive for NFT holders) is planned for the second quarter of 2022. Players will be able to purchase exclusive in-game NFTs using the $BLOCK token and earn from additional profit methods like farming
