Plot[edit]
On the fifth anniversary of their relationship Melissa Barrett breaks up with her friend Carter, because he disappoints her. One week later she looks at photos together with her best friend Leslie. Then Leslie takes her to the gym. The attractive personal trainer Trey gives her one hour for free. After that, Melissa becomes a member of the gym with Trey as her trainer. During work in her own art gallery she meets Adam Diaz, who shows interest in the paintings. In the gym she defines a muscle-up as her fitness aim for the next six weeks and Trey gives her an activity tracker. Secretly he manipulates her smartphone so that he can spy on all her data.
When Melissa does not want to talk about Carter, Trey tells her, that he was dumped by a girl in high school. Then Melissa tells him, that Carter wanted to go to the Alps with her, although she is terrified of heights. Trey takes her to the climbing wall. While she is climbing, Trey lets the safety rope loose. Leslie arrives and reacts angry because of this danger, but Melissa is proud as she has overcome her fear.
Adam comes to the gallery again and arranges a date with Melissa. The next day, she has to take Leslie to work and arrives late at the training, where Trey gives her a key for the gym. At their Date, Adam and Melissa talk about being disappointed by their ex-partners. Trey watches the couple on their way home and the next day he talks about it with Melissa. In the evening, Adam cooks for Melissa and tells her how he began to collect art with the money of his deceased father. Then he has sex with Melissa and Trey knows about it due to the pulse measurement.
The next morning, Trey lurks in front of Melissa's door and there is a confrontation between the two men. In the gym, the trainer reacts angrily and pushes Melissa so hard that she falls off the treadmill unconsciously. Later at the pool Leslie talks about Melissa's former lover, who sent her paper hearts, but Melissa cannot remember the man. Furthermore, Leslie is skeptical about Trey and the training.
In the gym, Trey manipulates a message to Adam on Melissa's phone and blocks the contact. He badmouths Leslie. The next morning Adam arrives early in the gym because he thinks Melissa is there. Trey prompts him to press the bench. While Adam is on the bench, Trey takes his phone and blocks Melissa's number. Later Trey tries to get close contact to Melissa during a self-defence exercise. But she worries about getting no message from Adam. During the night she gets several calls from unknown users.
After the weekend she tells Trey, that she wants to take a break with the training, and prevails against his aggressive protest. In the evening she is shocked when she sees her gallery destroyed. The next day, Carter comes to her flat and tells her that Adam has sent him evil messages. Leslie uses her computer knowledge to get a list of the messages Carter received on his phone. The messages repeat the words "My Melissa" and come from Melissa's number. Furthermore, Leslie finds out that Melissa's number is blocked on Adam's phone, and she suspects Trey.
As Melissa has to prepare her gallery for the closing event of the exhibition, Leslie drives to the gym to get some information about Trey. In his desk she finds a Before-and-after photo album, and she sees on a photo that Trey was fat before. Suddenly the trainer grabs her from behind. Melissa cannot call Leslie he uses her friend's notes and performs a backdoor IP attack. She finds out that the data of her activity tracker is shared with Trey. She takes off the bracelet and Trey looses the connection. But he sees Melissa's appointment with Adam at the gallery and there he knocks down his opponent.
In the gym Melissa frees Leslie from a locker and manages to call the police before Trey appears. Then she sees Adam bound to the ropes of the boxing ring. Trey tells Melissa that he was the lover at the college. Melissa frees herself and climbs on the horizontal bar with a muscle-up. From there she jumps on Trey's back. She frees Adam and knocks down Trey with a dumbbell before the police arrive. The trainer is imprisoned for five years. From prison, he sends paper hearts to Melissa.
