Bo Meng (孟渤; 1972-) is a Japan-based economist originally from China. Since 2004 he has served as Research Fellow at the Institute of Developing Economies, Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO). He is also a board member of the editorial committee of the WTO Global Value Chain Development Report. His research focuses on global value chains (GVCs), the economics of climate change, and the Chinese economy.[1]

Biography

Meng came to Japan in 1996 as a Japanese government-sponsored International student and received his Ph.D. in Information Sciences from Tohoku University in 2005.

  • 2013: Visiting Scholar, United States International Trade Commission
  • 2015–present: Senior Research Fellow, IDE-JETRO

  • 2021–2024: Adjunct Research Fellow, Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research[1]
