Bocconcino is an Italian restaurant situated in London, England. It was first opened in 2014, on Berkeley Street in Mayfair, by restauranteur Mikhail Gokhner. Since opening it has won several awards such as TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice award.[1] and SME Best Italian Restaurant [2].

Description[edit]

The restaurant’s street address is 19 Berkeley Street London W1J 8ED [3], neighbour to an array of popular restaurants such as Park Chinois, Sexy Fish, Amazonico, and Novikov [4]. The style of cuisine is authentic Italian from different regions of Italy, with a contemporary twist, created by head chef Marco Corsica [5]

Initial Concept[edit]

The initial concept of Bocconcino was born in 2006 when the owner was visiting Forte Dei Marmi in the Mediterranean and was inspired by a local Italian pizzeria. Mr Gokhner sent chefs and managers to Italy for training, and he brought back a stone pizza oven to create an authentic experience in his first Bocconcino restaurant based in Moscow, Russia [6]. Today, there are a total of 7 Bocconcino Restaurants.

Reception[edit]

Bocconcino has received praise from numerous food and lifestyle critics. The Luxury Lifestyle Magazine commented “The restaurant follows the best culinary principles of Italy: excellent quality ingredients, honest cooking and first class service.”[7] and The Handbook claims the restaurant “oozes high-end; from its central Mayfair location just a tumble away from Green Park and The Ritz” with clientele who “duck in and out of the restaurant inconspicuously, signalling that this is the spot where art curators, influencers, footballers and the likes pop in for their Italian pick-me-up.” [8]
