Bondigalla Ramachandra, Ph.D (born 01 August 1984), is an Indian chemist who has worked in the teaching of Chemistry for Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Ph.D Scholars. He has received a Doctor of Philosophy from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2016)[2] and research work carried out in CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad (2009-2016)[3] and has authored around 16 research publications and three book chapters and acted as Editor for Seminar Proceedings.

Dr. Ramachandra completed B.Sc from Srikrishna Devaraya University at age twenty-one, and M.Sc from Srikrishna Devaraya University at age twenty-three. He received a Ph.D from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad at the age of thirty-three. He joined Government Degree College, Razole in 2011. Then he transferred to Government Degree College, Rajampeta in 2015. Then he transferred to Government College for Men (A), Kadapa [4] in 2016. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2016. He received the Andhra Pradesh State Best Teacher Award in September 2023 in Chemistry.

Early life and Education

Bondigalla Ramachandra was born in a middle-class farmer’s family of Chinnaya Palle Village, Siddavaram Post, Porumamilla Mandal of Kadapa[5] district in Andhra Pradesh. He studied elementary school at his native place, then he moved to APSWR School, Sagileru for secondary school education. He stood first in class in SSC Examinations (2000). Later he studied intermediate from APSWR Jr College, Chinnatekur (2002). Where he received the Andhra Pradesh State Pratibha award for securing 92.5%. Then, he completed his UG at Government College for Men, Kurnool (2005) in the MPC group. He got 6th rank in the PG Entrance Examination conducted by SK University, Ananthapur and completed his Master’s Degree (2007) in Analytical Chemistry. He cleared CSIR-UGC-JRF in 2008 and joined CSIR-IICT[6] to pursue his research. During his research, he appeared for the APPSC examination for a Lecturer Post in Chemistry and was selected in December 2011. Then, he continued his research as a part-time scholar from JNTU, Hyderabad[7] and completed his Ph.D in Chemistry from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2016) after seven years and two months.

Career

Before starting his research career, he worked as a Junior Scientist at Vimta Labs, Hyderabad (2008). He was appointed as a Lecturer at Government Degree College, Razole by APPSC in December 2011. Then, he moved to Government Degree College, Rajampeta on mutual zonal transfer in 2015. Then, he transferred to an autonomous college i.e., Government College for Men (A), Kadapa on 2016.[8]

Scientific contribution

Ramachandra has contributed to the development of new methodologies for separation and quantification of drugs and pharmaceuticals using chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. He developed novel methods using ionic liquids, molecularly imprinted polymers and NMR chiral solvents. He published 16 peer-reviewed articles in Scopus and Web of Science indexed[9]. Three of his articles were published as cover page articles in Separation science Plus (Web of Science).

Ramachandra is married to Sushmitha in 2012. They have two children, Naga Mahith and Srihith.
