Bondurants Racing
Bondurant Racing Company is a race shop, as well as a race team out of Frostproof, Florida. Founded by Beaux Bondurant in 2012, it has become a house hold name in the world of racing. Bondurant started the company on a whim, and soon became a big name in racing. He is the founder of a one of the most respected race shops in the southern United States. Bondurant's is known for being one of the first race shops to prefect a form vertical integration, hiring nothing but his three sons. Despite being short on hand, he has sold more cars than any other shop in Florida. In 2014 Brandon Wade, the youngest of Bondurant's sons passed away in a truck accident, not related to the company. Both of his drivers, Boudreaux Bondurant, and Kyle Edwards worked as mechanics, while racing. Boudreaux Bondurant, while only 13 at the time of the company's founding, was hired as lead mechanic. Kyle Edwards, while only 12 at the time, slowly became more involved with the company, later on working his way up to his final position as Manager of Operations.
Beaux Bondurant was born in Lafourche County, in Southern Louisiana, in 1966. After having their son Boudreaux, him and Mary, his wife at the time, moved to Central Florida. Bondurant believed that business was a family thing, and never hired an employee that strayed from the family. Bondurant, while never winning any major races, put out two very decorated drivers. He is best known for "The Untouchable", a matte black 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, producing more horsepower than any other drag car in the professional circuit at the time. Equipped with a ZZ572-720R, two 102mm Garrett turbos, it was an undefeated and highly feared car at the time. After losing his oldest son, Boudreaux, Bondurant slowly started to disappear from the racing scene. Bondurant later went on to raise the next generation of drivers, with his youngest driver, Macilynn Wade, who is a highly decorated and accomplished Kart driver. Despite his new found success in the company, Bondurant was gunned down in his home, during a robbery, on May 11, 2018.
Boudreaux Bodurant was born in Lafourche County, in Southern Louisiana, in the same hospital as his father, on February 14, 2000. He attended Reedy Creek Elementary school, then Horizon Middle School, only to transfer to Frostproof High School, where he soon withdrew from. Despite his lack of education Boudreaux was known for his whit, and his on-his-feet decisions. Boudreaux, while not the most successful driver at Bondurant's, had a long and successful driving career, being the first youth driver to ever go a full drag season with a perfect record. Boudreaux was known for his Chevelles, in an after-race press conference he told reporters "If it doesn't have a bow-tie on the billet, I'm not racing it." Boudreaux Bondurant was killed on March 20, 2017 while driving his 1997 Ford F-150, in a two vehicle collision involving a Kenworth T880.
Kyle Edwards was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 8, 2001. While not apart of the Bondurant bloodline, he worked for the company. He was Bondurant's most successful drivers. Known for his extravagant entries, he raced a 1986 BMW E30 M3. While his drag career was unsuccessful and short lived, his drifting career was record-breaking. He too became the first youth driver to ever have a perfect undefeated season in a major drift circuit. He has made several appearances at races such as Road Orlando 2015-17, Road Atlanta 2016-17, Daytona SpeedDrift, the Wild Bull Ring, as well as major drift events at the Kansas and Daytona International Speed Way. He currently holds the track record a the Homestead Speedway as well as the Auburndale Speedway.
