Boomerang was a Spanish pay television channel operated by AT&T's WarnerMedia under its International division. It is a Spanish equivalent to the original American network, the channel primarily airs reruns of former Cartoon Network and Hanna Barbera shows.

History[edit]

Boomerang was launched on 1 December 2004 and it's been available on the Digital+ digital platform and on the Auna cable platform and on Movistar TV ADSL platform.[1] It was introduced as a part of Cartoon Network's schedule on weekend afternoons.

The station's programming resembled strongly the UK version. It relied heavily in older Warner Bros. Animation, MGM, and Hanna-Barbera cartoons, but it also included fairly recent programmes featuring older characters, like Baby Looney Tunes and Duck Dodgers. It also featured other classic cartoons, like the Japanese Heidi and the Spanish La vuelta al mundo de Willy Fog (Around the World with Willy Fog).[2]

Channel Shutdown[edit]

On 1 September 2011, Boomerang Spain was closed and it was replaced by Cartoonito.[3] Subsequently, Cartoonito Spain closed completely on 1 July 2013, along with Cartoon Network Spain and its programs was moved to Boing Spain.[4]
