Vision

Borders Forest Trust states that its long-term ambition is to see southern Scotland as a place where "a rich tapestry of native woodlands and wild places flourish, cared for by volunteers and local communities."[2]

History

Borders Forest Trust was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers including the Wildwood Group, Philip and Myrtle Ashmole, and Tim Stead.[3][4]

In 2021, a conference was held to mark the organisation’s 25th anniversary.[5][6]

Land holdings

Over the organisation’s 30 year history, it has purchased four sites across the Moffat Hills in the Southern Uplands:

Borders Forest Trust also owns Drygrange Community Woodland near Melrose.[10]
