BottleKeeper is an El Segundo, California, based manufacturer and seller of beer bottle insulators and accessories.[1][2]

History[edit]

BottleKeeper was founded in 2013 by cousins Adam Callinan and Matt Campbell.[1] Campbell was inspired to create BottleKeeper as a way to keep his beers cold during warm weather.[3][4][5] Campbell designed a prototype and filed for a provisional patent. Callinan and Campbell launched a crowdfunding campaign on Fundable in August 2013.[6] By 2018, BottleKeeper sold 2.5 units per minute with a revenue run rate of $15 million.[7][8]

BottleKeeper was featured on the TV show Shark Tank in 2018. The company received a funding deal from Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner for $1 million in exchange for 5% of equity in the company and a $1.50 royalty per unit sold until $2 million was paid.[1][9] After the company was featured on Shark Tank, sales of BottleKeeper increased 300%.[8][10]

BottleKeeper has appeared in Wired[11], Bravo[12], Business Insider[13], BuzzFeed[14], Self[15], Inc.[9], CNBC[10], Money[8], Marie Claire[16], Huffington Post[17], Good Morning America[18], and Travel + Leisure.[19]

Products[edit]

BottleKeeper's primary product is the BottleKeeper. It is a neoprene insulated, three-piece stainless steel container that allows the user to insert a beer bottle via a removable bottom.[1] The twist cap seals the inserted bottle after opening.[10] The stainless steel, neoprene and padded base insulates the bottle and maintains cold temperatures for longer. It provides shock protection in the event of a fall.[10]

In September 2017, BottleKeeper launched BottleKeeper 2.0 with the addition of a built-in bottle opener, tether, and powder-coated paint.[20] In November 2018, BottleKeeper launched the BottleKeeper X featuring a double-walled vacuum insulation.[20]

Patents[edit]

CamCal Enterprises, LLC, parent company of BottleKeeper, has been awarded multiple US utility patents for protective bottle enclosures:

  • US Patent 9505527[21]
  • US Patent 9637370[22]
  • US Patent 10118735[23]
