Box Elder County - Baby Jane Doe is an unidentified newborn female whose remains were discovered in the Bear River near Corinne, Utah, on July 11, 1948. Discovery[edit]
On July 11, 1948, fishermen discovered the body of a newborn baby girl in the Bear River near Corinne, Utah. The infant was found about 350 yards south and east of the Steel Bridge, lying at the edge of the riverbank. It was estimated that she had been in the water for at least a week to ten days prior to being found.[1][2]
Due to the state of decomposition, it was impossible to conduct an autopsy, and the exact cause of death could not be determined. The body was later taken to the Felt Funeral Home for burial.[2]
Physical Description[edit]
The infant was described as a Caucasian female. No additional physical characteristics, such as hair or eye color, could be determined due to the state of decomposition.[1]
Investigation[edit]
The circumstances surrounding the baby's death remain unknown. Investigators have not determined whether the infant was stillborn or if foul play was involved. Due to the condition of the remains, determining any potential trauma was impossible. The case has remained unsolved, and the identity of the infant is still unknown.
