Boy Dumplings: A Tasty Chinese Tale is a picture book written by award-winning author Ying Chang Compestine and illustrated by James Yamaski. Set in China, it tells the story of a young boy and his comedic encounter with a hungry ghost.[1] The first edition was published (2009) in English and the second publication (2016) was a bilingual edition in both English and Chinese.[2][3]

Plot summary[edit]

In Boy Dumplings a hungry ghost kidnaps a young boy wandering the streets of China's capitol, Beijing. When the ghost attempts to eat the boy, the boy uses his wit and love for traditional Chinese dumplings to trick the ghost into searching for the ingredients for a recipe for Boy Dumplings.[4]

The book concludes with an author's note and recipe for "Boy Free Dumplings".
