Boyei Gelo was a comedy Bangali television serial, which aired on GEC Zee Bangla. The show started airing from 22 July, 2013. It was telecasted at 9:00 pm from Monday to Saturday. The series ended on 15 December, 2014.

Plot Summary[edit]

Boyei Gelo was a comedy, drama serial based on the enmity between Ghotis and Bangals. The story revolves around two neighboring families, the Senguptas(Ghoti) and the Basaks(Bangal) whose traditional rivalry gives rise to a series of comedic situations in Prafullapara, (a fictitious middle-class neighborhood in 21st century Kolkata).But things get interesting when the young members of the family fall in love.

Characters[edit]

Krishna Sengupta: She was the lead female character of BOYEI GELO. This character was played by Basabdatta Chatterjee. Krishna was very bad tempered and angry 19/20 years old college going girl. She couldn't tolerate the neighbor boy, Arjun Basak. Krishna used to start arguing with Arjun right away whenever she saw him. It was said that she was as stubborn as her mother. Her mother left her father when she was a child. Despite her bad temper and stubbornness, she had a very strong personality.

Arjun Basak: He was the lead male character of BOYEI GELO. This character was played by Rohit Samanta. He liked to have a lot of fun. He liked to tease Krishna very much. He was the first person in his family who passed BA. He grew up under the strict rule of his father and grandfather.

Birsha Basak: He was the younger cousin brother of Arjun. This character was played by Sourav Das. He was just like his elder brother, Arjun. He was the focal point of the comedy part of the serial. He was beaten by his father, uncle and grandfather for his mischiefs.

Pola Sengupta: She was the younger cousin sister of Krishna. This character was played by Sananda Basak. She was very stubborn girl. But she was terrified of her otder sister, Krishna. She was very afraid of Krishna's anger. She lost her mother at a very young age.

Partha Basak: He was the younger brother of Arjun. The character was played by Sujoy Saha. He was a very attentive student. He was the most talented of the three brothers. He went to study in Bangalore. He was later brought back to Kolkata. The main twist of the serial started with his arrival in Kolkata.

Radhika: She was the youngest cousin sister of Krishna. The character was played by Nibedita Biswas. She was a very nice and romantic girl. She loved reading Love Story and Love Tips. She liked tall-dark-handsome guys so much. She was studying in class 12, When she would get up in college, her mother told her that she would Radhika to Bangalore.

Chandrima: She was the best friend of Radhika and Birsha's girlfriend. The character was played by Ayesha Bhattacharya. She was a very nice girl. She was also a Ghoti. Her mother was very grumpy who hated Bangals. Nevertheless, she fell in love with Birsha.

Mira-Chandan: Mira was the younger step-sister of Krishna and Chandan was the younger brother of Pola. They were called "Bicchu" (which means very wicked) for their mischiefs. They were the little army of their grandfather.

Bhobotosh Basak: He was the grandfather of Arjun. The character was played by Paran Bandopadhyay. He couldn't stand Ghotis at all. He was always looking for scopes to quarrel with Ghotis. He used to jog every morning. He always won by running with his enemy Haranath Sengupta. He had a renowned sweet shop. He was very rich. He lost his wife a few years ago.

Haranath Sengupta: He was the grandfather of Krishna. The character was played by Monu Mukhopadhyay. He couldn't tolerate Bangals at all. He looked for excuses to quarrel with them. He had diabetes and asthma. That's why he had to follow some rules, but he didn't. Eating sweets was forbidden to him. But he secretly ate lozenges. If he was caught, he had to be scolded by Krishna.

Bhobotarini Debi: She was Arjun's paternal grandaunt. She was dearest younger sister of Bhobotosh Basak. The character was played by Chitra Sen. Her nickname was Bhebli. She widowed at a very young age and moved in with her brother. She had a son named Badal who hated marriage. She took care of everything in the Basak family. She was very bad tampered and wicked lady. But she loved her whole family.

Ashalata Sengupta: She was Krishna's grandmother. The character was played by Ratna Ghosal. She loved to study geography and mathematics. She loved Bangals too. She never liked the qurrels between Ghotis and Bangals.

Poritosh Basak: He was the father of Arjun. The character was played by Rohit Mukherjee. He was extremely bad tempered person. His sons and nephew were very scared of him. He was very responsible to his family. He used to quarrel with Ghotis a lot.

Hirak Sengupta: He was the father of Krishna. The character was played by Pijush Ganguly. His nickname was Bonchai. He got divorced from his first wife (Krishna's mother) when Krishna was a child. He started stuttering when he got angry.

Animesh Basak: He was the father of Birsha. The character was played by Avijit Deb Roy. He was a nice person. Usually he didn't quarrel with Ghotis.

Pokhraj Sengupta: He was the father of Pola. The character was played by Surojit Bandopadhyay. He was a professor of a college. He loved literature. He quite liked Bangals. He didn't like to quarrel with Bangals. He loved to eat 'Khirmohon' a famous sweet of Basak Sweetmeat Shop.

Arunima Basak: She was the mother of Arjun. The character was played by Chaitali Dutta Burman. She cried a lot, almost over everything.

Paroma Sengupta: She was the stepmother of Krishna. The character was played by Maitreyee Mitra. Despite being a stepmother, she raised Krishna like her own daughter. Pola didn't have her own mother. So Paroma also raised Pola like her own daughter. Usually she didn't involve in the quarrels between Ghotis and Bangals. She was a very responsible mother.

Chandra Basak: She was the mother of Birsha. The character was played by Suchismita Chowdhury. She used to scold her disobedient son a lot. She was a very modern lady. She worked at an NGO.

Chandrima's Mother: The character was played by Dipa Roy. She was a very bad tampered lady. She hated Bangals a lot. She didn't like BIrsha too. Sometimes she used to give Birsha various responsibilities and Birsha ruined everything.

Champa: She was a housemaid of the both Ghotis and Bangals. The character was played by Somjita Bhattachariya. She used to give the news of one house to another and thus she fueled to the quarrel between two houses. She used to enjoy watching fights. She used to exaggerate everything. She had a good relationship with everyone.

Kyangla: He was a local tea-stall owner. The character was played by Debasish Ganguly. He was a spactator of the quarrel between the two houses. He used to provide lozenges to Krishna's grandfather. That's why Krishna used to scold him a lot. Sometimes he teased Champa.

Ghnechu: He was a local ironing-shop owner. The character was played by Shivam. He was also a spactator of the quarrel between Ghotis and Bangals. He had a good friendship with Kyangla and Champa.

Phonindra Mohan Botobyal: He was the boss of Arjun's office. The character was played by Ambarish Bhattacharya. he used to be called Mr. Botobyal. He loved his daughter. He wanted Arjun to be his son-in-law.

Madhobilata Botobyal: She was the daughter of Mr. Botobyal. The character was played by Sudipta Chakraborty. She loved Arjun. She wanted to marry him. She was her father's apple of eye. She was called Only Madhobilata. His father called her Madho.

Pintucharan Das: He was the husband of Madhobilata. The character was played by Rony Chakraborty. He was supposed to marry Krishna. But accidentally he married Madhobilata. He really loved Madhobilata.

Sucharita Das: She was the mother of Pintucharan. The character was played by Sudipa Bose. Her son was her apple of eye. She had a strong personality.
