Adeyinka Oladunni Dare (born in Sokoto), known professionally as Boyskido, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Originally from Oyo State, he performs Afropop and Afrobeats music primarily in the Hausa language, alongside Yoruba and English.[1][2]
Early life
Adeyinka Dare was born in Sokoto, Northern Nigeria, to parents of Yoruba origin from Oyo State. Raised in Sokoto, he grew up immersed in Hausa culture and language, which influenced his musical style. In an interview with BBC Hausa, he discussed identifying strongly with Hausa culture despite his Southwestern Nigerian heritage.[1]
Career
Boyskido began releasing music around 2018. He gained prominence within Northern Nigeria's music scene after his verse on the remix of the song "Aure" went viral.[1] His music blends contemporary Afropop rhythms with Northern Nigerian vocal melodies and lyrical patterns.
In 2021, he released his debut extended play (EP), titled I Am Next. In January 2026, music publication The NATIVE highlighted Boyskido as part of a rising wave of artists reshaping contemporary music in Northern Nigeria, alongside acts such as Auta Waziri, Feezy, and Namenj.[2]
Musical style
Boyskido's music is characterized by multilingual code-switching between Hausa, Yoruba, and English. His lyrics frequently explore romance, perseverance, and his bicultural Nigerian upbringing.
