Bozhan Angelov (also known as Bojan Angelov) was a Bulgarian literary critic, historian and cultural figure.
Biography
He was born on November 1, 1873, in Ruse. He graduated in Slavic Philology at Sofia University. From 1908 to 1909 he was chief inspector of the Bulgarian language at the Ministry of Education. He was the Director of the Ivan Vazov National Theater from 1909 to 1911, and again from 1918 to 1920. He was the chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Writers from 1915 to 1919, and he was also the director of the National Library in Sofia from 1923 to 1928. He died on July 2, 1958, in Sofia.[1]
His works include valuable materials and observations on literary development. He wrote articles on Bulgarian literature and did research on folk art.
Legacy
'Bozhan Angelov street' in the Mladost IV district of Sofia is named after him.
