Brad Wingfield is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player.
Junior career[edit]
Wingfield grew up playing minor hockey in Gibsons. In 1992-93 he made his debut in the BCHL, then known as the BCJHL. Wingfield played four seasons in the BCHL, on five different teams. Wingfield played for the Kelowna Spartans, Bellingham Ice Hawks, Penticton Panthers, Langley Thunder, and the Royal City Outlaws.[1]
Professional career[edit]
Wingfield made his professional debut in 1996-97 for the Central Texas Stampede of the WPHL. Wingfield immediately established himself as a physical force, wracking up 176 penalty minutes over 35 games. The 1997–98 season was spent in three different leagues on four different teams. In the WPHL, Wingfield suited up for the New Mexico Scorpions and the Central Texas Stampede. Wingfield also played 11 games in the WCHL, with the Bakersfield Fog, recording 46 penalty minutes in 11 games. Wingfield also had a shot at the highest level of minor pro hockey, suiting up for the Utah Grizzles of the IHL. Wingfield then settled into a consistent role with the Corpus Christi Icerays of the WPHL. From 1998 to 2001, Wingfield played 3 seasons in Corpus, averaging 14 goals a season, 18 assists, 32 points and 243 penalty minutes. Prior to committing to playing the 2000–01 season with Corpus Christi, Wingfield tried his hand playing in Europe for the Bracknell Bees of the BISL. Wingfield played 11 games, before the possibility of failing a drug test caused him to return to Corpus Christi. 2001-02 was spent with the Elmira Jackals of the UHL, where Wingfield recorded 17 goals, 11 assists, and 472 penalty minutes. He also got the opportunity to try his skills in the AHL for the Syracuse Crunch, appearing in 8 games, where he recorded 1 goal and 89 penalty minutes. Wingfield's AHL tenure is notable for the Valentines Day Massacre and his shirtless square off with Steve Parsons. 2002-03 was Wingfield's second season with Elmira and he recorded career highs in goals with 29, points with 45 and penalty minutes with 576. Wingfield was also afforded another shot at the AHL appearing in 3 games with the Hersey Bears and Syracuse Crunch. In 2003–04, Wingfield was back in Corpus Christi, this time suiting up for the Corpus Christi Rayz of the CHL. He recorded 14 goals, 18 assists and 357 penalty minutes in his lone AHL season. 2004-05 and 2006-07 were spent in the UHL for the Danbury Trashers. A fan favourite in Danbury, Wingfield played 56 games, recording 10 goals and 10 assists and 496 pims. Wingfield's final two professional seasons were in the LNAH for the Sherbrooke St. Francois. Over 49 games, Wingfield recorded 9 goals, 14 assists and 381 pims.[1]
