Brandon Clifford (born 1983) is an American designer and educator. He is the Director of Matter Design, an interdisciplinary design and research practice he founded in 2008.[1] Clifford is an Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[2][3][4][5]
Education and career
Clifford received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Georgia Tech in 2006 and Master of Architecture from Princeton University in 2011.[6] Before attending graduate school he worked as a project manager at Office dA from 2006 - 2009.[2] In 2011 he was the LeFevre Emerging Practitioner Fellow at The Ohio State University’s Knowlton School of Architecture.[7] Clifford joined the Architecture Department at MIT in 2012.[8]
Recognition and Press
Clifford was the recipient of the 2011 SOM Prize in Architecture[9]. In 2013 Matter Design won The Architectural League Prize for Young Architects and Designers[10], and was recognized by the AIA with a 2018 Small Projects Award[11]. Clifford was the 2017-2018 Founders Rome Prize Fellow in Architecture.[12][13][14]
