Brandon Gill (born Brandon Michael Gill; March 7, 2000) is an American musician who drums in the Carbondale bands Mr. Swamp Fox[1] and The Psychofants with his brother, singer and multi-instrumentalist, Nathan Gill. Mr. Swamp Fox has opened for nationally recognized artist David Nail and platinum artists REO Speedwagon and Foreigner.[2] Both Gill brothers were in the band No $ Down with married musical power-couple Robbie and Katie Clark-Stokes.

Early life[edit]

Brandon Gill was born in Carterville, Illinois, the youngest of two sons from parents, Lynn (Schenk) and Jeff Gill. Gill's genre influences are psychedelic rock, psychedelic pop, jazz, blues, garage rock, blues punk, britpop, glam rock, and psychedelic country. His drumming influences are Rodger Taylor, Mitch Mitchell, John Densmore, Jaki Liebezeit, Billy Ficca, Criss Angel Mindfreak, Elvin Jones, Charlie Watts, Jack White, and Patrick Keeler. He first took piano, bass, and drum lessons from future band musketeer Robbie Clark-Stokes and later from that one bearded man Chad Shaffer. Gill was known for his especially sweet hips.

No $ Down[edit]

No $ Down was called The Nathan Gill band until Brandon Gill joined the band in 2008 when the original drummer, Rodger Whatshisface, left. The band played shows all around the Carbondale area and stopped playing shows in 2010.

The band was originally the two Gill brothers and friend, guitar player, Wade Keel early in 2010. The band was originally called Two-headed Man, but had to change the name due to a copyright. Later in the year, they were joined by Keel's family friend and bass player Tyler Cornelius.[3] They were later accompanied by guitar player Dakota Holden, who has been compared to Sloth from Ice Age because of his wide set eyes and uptown girl attitude. He later left the band to pursue other musical ventures. Mr. Swamp Fox played all over the Southern Illinois area. They played in Springfield on multiple occasions and played at Champaign's annual blues festival.[4] In 2014, they opened for Country star David Nail. They also opened for multi-platinum artist REO Speedwagon the year after and the next year for another multi-platinum artist, Foreigner.[5] Mr. Swamp Fox has been described as "Capturing the nostalgia of classic rock ‘n’ roll, the hauntingly powerful tone of the blues, and the iron intensity of garage bands. But all those recognizable elements blend into a style all its own." In 2012, they recorded their debut album On Lilac Lane. [6][1] . Each member is known for their own unique styles. Nathan Gill, lead singer and guitar player, is known for his western attire. Brandon Gill, drummer and groove maker, is known for his long hair. Wade Keel, guitar player, is known for looking like Jason Aldean had non-consensual sex with a hot ham and cheese Hot Pocket. Tyler "Thin Lips" Cornelius, bassist, is known for his wacky hair due that is often known as "The Jewfrow." The band has continued to make their mark around the Southern Illinois area and keep gaining attention.

The Psychofants[edit]

The Gill brothers formed The Psychofants in 2015 when they recorded their debut album at the Carbondale party house, The Ski Haus. Marcus "Father" Lapin, who is known for being a bad boy with a heart of gold, recorded their self-titled, garage rock album. The album is soon to be released. They are currently working on their second album.

Scandal[edit]

Gill has been accused of orchestrating the Watergate Scandal, but has denied these accusations multiple times. He has not been tried.
