Brandon Gilpin (born October 21, 1999) is an American actor. He is best known for his recurring role as DJ Neva Scared on the Starz series P-Valley.
Early life
Gilpin was born and raised in Amityville, New York to Jamaican parents. He is the son of Allison Jonas and Donovan Gilpin. He performed in various stage productions at Amityville Memorial High School, including roles in In the Heights and The Addams Family.
Career
Gilpin's first feature film appearance was in the 2019 romantic comedy film Greyson Family Christmas as Joe Greyson, followed by his portrayal of a teenager in the HBO series High Maintenance.
Gilpin moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 2017 to attend Morehouse College as a Theater and Performance major, and to pursue acting as a profession. In March 2019, he was cast as the 15-year-old DJ Neva Scared in the Starz series P-Valley, based on Katori Hall’s play Pussy Valley.
The series order was announced in November 2019, and the series premiered on July 12, 2020, with Gilpin in a recurring role. P-Valley was renewed for a second season on July 27, 2020.
The role attracted Gilpin due to its "complexities,"[1] and that both he and his character are "the life of the party."[2] He has stated his appreciation
that the show addresses “sex work, stripper life, and normalizes a community that is often dehumanized.”[1]
He is also set to appear in the upcoming Aretha Franklin biopic Respect, starring Jennifer Hudson.
Gilpin is a dancer, singer, and comedian known for the viral “LiteFeet Challenge.” He has amassed over 100,000 followers on various social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter.

Personal life
Gilpin will graduate from Morehouse College in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performance.
He is an avid basketball fan, and supports the New York Knicks.
Gilpin is also known for his affinity for Crocs footwear, and cites Avatar: The Last Airbender as his favorite television show.
