Brendan Kelly is an American attorney and politician from the state of Illinois.
When Kelly was 10 years old, his family moved to Metro East. His parents worked as civilian employees at Scott Air Force Base. Kelly attended Belleville East High School in Belleville, Illinois, but he completed his high school degree in Washington, D.C., after his parents were transferred to work at The Pentagon.[1]
Kelly attended the University of Notre Dame on a scholarship through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps. After he graduated from Notre Dame, he was commissioned as a warfare officer in the U.S. Navy, and he was deployed to the Middle East[1] He earned his Juris Doctor from the Saint Louis University School of Law. He was appointed the state’s attorney in St. Clair County in 2010.[2][3] He was reelected in 2012 and 2016.[1]
In the 2018 elections, Kelly is running for the United States House of Representatives in Illinois's 12th congressional district.[4]
Kelly and his wife, Joanne, have two sons and live in Swansea, Illinois.[1]
