Brent Cowles

Brent Cowles (born January 14th, 1984) is a former American professional basketball player who most recently played with the WC Flames, from the Universal Basketball Association for the (2014–2015) season. He plays both the shooting guard and point guard positions and is 1.85m (6'1") in height. He played college basketball for four years at Livingstone College. He played the (2009–2010) season with the London Capitals, and (2008–09) season with Bosnia Pro A with KK Play-Off, before touring with the Washington Generals and Harlem Globetrotters.

Early career[edit]

Cowles was raised in Wilkes County, North Carolina. He enrolled his freshman year at Wilkes Central High School and played until his junior season compiling a 76-5 record in 3 seasons. He then transferred to Charlotte Christian High School and played for NBA legend Bobby Jones. He re-classed and played 2 more seasons being named All State both seasons and ranked as the #1 shooting guard in the state. Cowles ended up averaging over 27 points his junior year and 29 his senior year while attending CCHS.

College career[edit]

Cowles was recruited out of Charlotte Christian by James Stinson. During his four-year career, Cowles was an all-conference player while at Livingstone College and helped them to their best record and most wins in school history at the time. Cowles helped lead Livingstone to their first back to back conference tournament victories before falling in the semi-finals. He left Livingstone in 2007 being top 10 in points, rebounds and steals.

Pro career[edit]

Cowles started his professional basketball career for the Wilson Warriors-based out of Wilson, North Carolina in 2007-08, which was part of the American Basketball Association(ABA). He then tried out and made the USA Select[1] basketball team over the summer of 2008 and that helped spring his European professional career. That fall he signed a deal to play in London, England with the London Capitals for the 2008-09 season. After leaving the Capitals he joined the World-famous Harlem Globetrotter tour and played with the Washington Generals who were coached by former NBA player Sam Worthen[2]. He followed that season with a very successful season(2009-10) playing for KK Playoff in Bosnia first division in which he led the team in scoring(30.2 PPG) and rebounds(7.8). After leaving Bosnia he joined the Harlem Ambassadors organization for the 2011 season before leaving them and touring with the Harlem Globetrotters while playing with the Washington Generals in 2011-2012. Cowles most recently played with the WC Flames of the Universal Basketball Association where he was selected to the West All-Star team[3]. He owns the North Carolina division[4] of the Universal Basketball Association which is based out of Atlanta, Georgia.
