Brett A. Becker is an American/Irish computer scientist and author, known for his work in computing education.

Research and academic work

Becker was elected Vice-Chair of the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE) in 2022[1][2] and sits on the Steering Committee of the ACM/IEEE Computer Society/AAAI International Task Force for the revision of the CS 2013 Computer Science Curricula which is used by thousands of Computer Science Institutions globally.[3] He is Associate Editor of ACM Transactions on Computing Education (ACM TOCE)[4] and a member of the International Consortium for Educational Development (ICED) Council.[5]

Becker is an Irish National Forum Teaching and Learning Research Fellow, the highest individual national distinction for teaching in higher education.[6] He is also the President of the All-Ireland Society for Higher Education (AISHE)[7] which runs conferences and publishes The All Ireland Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (AISHE-J), where he is also the Technical Editor.[8] He is the lead author on the first second-level (high school) textbook based on the new Irish Computer Science curriculum (the Leaving Certificate Computer Science).[9][10]
