Brett Oppenheim (born April 12, 1977) is an American luxury real estate broker, investor, and developer. He is also a real estate educator and public speaker, a reality television star, and a former securities litigation attorney. Brett is currently the President and Broker of Oppenheim Real Estate.[1], a California licensed real estate brokerage specializing in the representation of buyers and sellers of luxury residential properties in Los Angeles. He is one of the region’s highest-producing agents, consistently named by The Hollywood Reporter[2] as one of Los Angeles’ Top 25 Real Estate Agents. Brett has gained global recognition as a star of the Emmy Nominated Netflix Original Series, Selling Sunset[3], which features the real estate careers and personal lives of Brett, his identical twin brother Jason, and their team of successful female real estate agents.

Background[edit]

Brett Oppenheim was born on April 12, 1977, in Palo Alto, California. His great-great-grandfather, Jacob Stern, moved to Hollywood in 1889 and played an integral role in the formation of Hollywood as the capital of the world's entertainment industry. The Oppenheim/Stern family represents five generations of real estate development, management, and brokerage services in the Los Angeles area.

Early life and education[edit]

Brett Oppenheim grew up in Northern California and completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of California Berkeley, receiving Phi Beta Kappa and Highest University Honors. He is also a UCLA Merit Scholar and a graduate of UCLA School of Law[4]

Career[edit]

Law[edit]

As a former securities litigation attorney at two of the world’s largest international law firms, Skadden, Arps LLP, and Latham & Watkins LLP, Brett spent years defending a consortium of investment banks against liability in excess of ten billion dollars stemming from the MCI/WorldCom corporate bond default.

Real Estate[edit]

For over a decade, Brett has been one of Los Angeles’ top real estate agents and has represented some of LA’s most iconic luxury residential properties. He resides in the Hollywood Hills where he renovates and develops properties for his personal real estate portfolio. He also advises on client renovation and development projects, including a Beverly Hills estate that was recently renovated and sold for $17 million. Brett is currently consulting on a $15 million development in Santa Monica and a $25 million residence in the coveted "Bird Streets" of the Hollywood Hills.

As an educator, Brett has trained many thousands of people on the strategies of becoming a successful real estate agent and the principles of sound real estate investing. He has been a guest speaker at some of the nation's leading corporations and preeminent universities, most recently including the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law.

Real Estate Courses[edit]

In January 2022 Brett Oppenheim launched two online real estate courses4 aimed at expanding his educational reach. His Real Estate Investors Masterclass[5] teaches people how to safely and effectively create wealth through real estate investing, and his Real Estate Agents Masterclass[6] empowers aspiring and established agents to create more successful careers.

When asked why he chose to dedicate the better part of two years to this project, Brett Oppenheim replied:

"Real estate allowed me to get out of the corporate rat race and create financial freedom for myself. My goal with these courses is to provide a platform for people to learn from my experiences and achieve the same level of success and happiness that I have. Millions of people will be investing in real estate in the coming years, and millions more will make a career out of real estate. They deserve to know how to succeed in these endeavors, and from what I have seen, many of them do not[7]."

Personal Life[edit]

In April 2021 Brett confirmed he was in a relationship with Australian model and restaurant entrepreneur Tina Louise[8]. In December of 2021, it was confirmed the couple had split but remained close friends[9]. Articles from recent entertainment publications indicate that Brett is currently single and frequenting local West Hollywood restaurants, the beaches in Santa Monica, and industry parties, often accompanied by his brother and other Selling Sunset casts members.
