Brewathome

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

brewathome is a social campaign initiated by organization I'M NOT A BARISTA, that aims to help the coffee industry affected by the current covid19. Barista is an underpaid job in many countries: their craftsmanship and dedication of delivering a perfect cup of coffee often are not paid enough respect. Due to the covid19, a large number of coffee shops closed down; and most baristas are left off at home without a continuous income to maintain their normal life.

I'M NOT A BARISTA initiated this social campaign #brewathome on Instagram, and encourage people in the coffee industry to help each other in the difficult times. It's encouraging roasters and baristas to maintain interest in their business and promote online sales by sharing tutorials and tips and promoting discounts using social media.[1]

The campaign started on Mar 24,2020, on Instagram, now more than 170 international roasteries and coffee brands have joined this social campaign[2] #brewathome has become one of the top trending hashtag on Instagram. By May 10, 2020, the brewathome hashtag has been used more than 22,000 times. [3]

Micky, the founder of I'M NOT A BARISTA, launched the NPO and Instagram account at the end of 2019, with the help of volunteers from Singapore, Southerner's Africa, Iran, Germany, Russia, Hong Kong, Mexico, and Italy, including Milan-based coffee blogger Valentina Palange.[4] They work together to communicate the importance of this mission, telling the world that being a barista is a serious profession, that has value and needs the right salary and constant training.
