Brewstew
Brewstew is an animated series featuring badly drawn, potty-mouthed characters. It was created in 2013 by Tyler Rudolph (who describes himself as Captain Dad at Brewstew.com), Chris Brewer, and Cody Hyden. All of the stories are allegedly based on real events and real people (real names are even used half of the time).[1] Episodes usually last under 5 minutes.
Brewstew films have produced over 120 short videos and there were 1.32m subscribers to the YouTube channel as of 2020.[2] Brewstew has gathered over 400,000,000 views since its creation. [3]
Brewstew's most popular videos include:[4]
- Trampoline (over 9m views)
- Airsoft Guns (also over 9m views)
- School Lunch (over 7m views)
- Riding Bikes (also over 7m views)
- Being Broke (also over 7m views)
- Math Class (also over 7m views)
One of the first videos to go viral is El Dentist (3.6m views), El Haircut (2.1m views) and Crazy Customer Delight (2.5m views).[5]
Tyler describes his short animations as "The videos that your mom hates and your dad thinks are bulls**t." [6] Adobe Animate and Adobe Premiere Elements have been used to make these "crappy cartoons".[3] Tyler learned these skills at Owens Community College, in Toledo, Ohio.
Videos mostly feature Tyler as a kid or as an adult (always depicted with a blue outfit), with frequent cameos from his neighbor Michael (sporting a red Scottie Pippen jersey). Recurring themes include Pokemons, the film Home Alone, K-Mart, Lindsay Lohan (whose image is used to depict turds), WWE wrestling, the Walker Texas Ranger, Three's company, RC Cola, Pizza Hut, Blockbuster, and Michael's paint roller.
Brewstew's logo features Brewer's face.
