Briar Stewart is a Canadian journalist based in Edmonton, reporting for CBC News in both radio and television.

Career[edit]

After graduating from Ryerson University[1] with a Bachelor of Journalism degree Stewart began her career with CBC as a radio reporter in Thunder Bay, later relocating to Yorkton as a video journalist. In 2007, she joined CBC's bureau in Edmonton as a local reporter, and moved into the role of National Reporter in 2010.

Responsible for stories in Edmonton and Northern Alberta, Stewart has often reported on topics related to oil sands development.[2][3]

Awards[edit]

In 2010, Stewart won an AMPIA Award for her documentary "Journey to Jamaica", a story that followed a group of First Nations cadets from Hobbema, Alberta on an exchange that took them to the slums of Spanish Town, Jamaica.
