Brice Gelot is a notable photographer known for his unique approach to capturing the street culture..[1][2]

Early Life[edit]

Brice Gelot was born in Dijon (France) in 1985. He developed an early interest in analog photography, and began exploring the streets of the city with his camera in 2004. He started to work for his local skateshop to photograph locals and pro team like : Volcom Europe, Antiz, Doble, Syndrome, Carhartt WIP.[3][4] Then later on develop his own style of street photography, which exposes a complex reality with two faces : one tough and the other more candid, sometimes with a poetic sensibility giving a voice to those who often go unheard and forgotten.

His photographs show the world as it is and often reflect the gritty reality of life on the streets, including portrait of people on the margins of society, gangs members[5][6], tattoo culture[7], homelessness issue[8] and religion[9][10]

His raw black and white highlight the stark contrast between the beauty and the ugliness of street life, drawing the viewer's attention to the harsh realities of life. Driven by the conviction that photographs can be a powerful tool for social change, capable of raising awareness, educating, and fostering intercultural dialogue, Brice Gelot strives to break stereotypes and inspire empathy towards those who often go unnoticed or ignored by society. Through various long-term photographic series, he explores crucial issues such as poverty, humanitarian crises, social justice and human rights.

"I always been influenced by all of this culture. I like to show the world as it is, for me nothing’s more interesting than reality. So from rough areas that never sees tourists to poor neighbourhoods where I can find chaos, I find beauty. I let the street speak, and I just document what I see…"
