The Bridgetown International University (BIU), established in 2017, is a medical school that has its campus in Bridgetown, Barbados, Caribbean Region, North America. Bridgetown International University provides education in the sector of Medicine & offers the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program with a duration of 5½ years to students from all around the world including students from India & neighboring countries, and African countries,[1] among others, who have completed 12th Grade in school.[1][2]
Government Information Service, Barbados reported that in the next 5 years, BIU plans to build a campus in Barbados to accommodate 5000 students.[1]
Accreditation and history
Bridgetown International University was established in 2017. The school is the seventh medical school to start operating in Barbados, where the government has been emphasizing development of medical education as a way to diversify the economy. The first intake is expected to be 500 students from India, Sri Lanka, Ghana, South Africa and Nepal.[3]
Since its inception, Bridgetown International University has been recognized by various reputed medical institutions & organizations around the world. Medical Program and Degree
BIU offers MD (Doctor of Medicine) Program based on US medical curriculum.
Bridgetown International University offers three academic session starts in a year: January, May, and September and doesn’t require its students to clear any private entrance examination.[6]
Curriculum duration of the program is 5½ years.[6] English[6] is used as the language of instruction.
Faculty
The medical faculties of Bridgetown International University include MD & Ph.D. holders from different regions including Barbados, India, and other Caribbean countries.[1]
