Brijesh Kumar Agrawal (born 16 September 1976) is an Indian entrepreneur, co-founder, and director of IndiaMART, [1] India’s largest online B2B marketplace.

A visionary, Brijesh is known for his dynamic leadership style which involves successfully introducing and implementing eclectic business strategies that drive growth along different verticals of the organization.[4] A relationship-oriented leader, Brijesh has played a vital role in leading people and inspiring them to excel in their respective fields. Early Life and Education[edit]

Brijesh studied at Birla Vidya Mandir, Nainital (1989), and then went to St. Francis’ College, Lucknow (1994). He is a management graduate from the University of Lucknow, (1997) with a PGDBM from the NIILM [5] (1999). [6] He is a sports lover and has a special fondness for Cricket.[14]

Entrepreneurship Journey[edit]

Founded by cousins Dinesh Agarwal and Brijesh Agrawal in 1996, [7] IndiaMART.com is an online B2B marketplace for business products and services that connects buyers with suppliers. It focuses on providing a platform to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), large enterprises, and individuals.[8]

The company, which started with a seed capital of Rs. 40,000, was bootstrapped for its initial 12 years, from 1996 to 2008. Later in 2008, the company raised $10 million from Intel Capital. [2] Till today, the company has raised a total of $35-$36 million in 3 Rounds from 5 Investors, which includes Amadeus Capital and Intel Capital. [3]

Over the last 23 years, Brijesh has focused on building an ecosystem that powers the growth of MSMEs in India. He is also a charter member of the TiE-Delhi NCR & a Founder Trustee of the Plaksha University. [11]

Awards and Recognitions[edit]

IndiaMART.com had been nominated for the top three positions in the trading (non-retail) category at the annual Emerging India awards. The company received the honor from the steel stalwart L N Mittal at the felicitation ceremony, organized in London on July 8, 2008.
