Brodido is a professional wrestling tag team consisting of Brody King and Bandido. The team currently competes in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where they are the reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions. Brodido was formed in mid-2025 and quickly rose to prominence in AEW’s tag-team division after capturing the AEW World Tag Team Championship in their debut year.[1]
Background
Before forming as a team, both members of Brodido were established stars in the international wrestling scene.
Brody King built his reputation as a powerhouse brawler on the U.S. independent circuit, competing in promotions such as Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Ring of Honor (ROH), and later joining AEW’s House of Black stable alongside Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews. Known for his intimidating presence and impactful power moves, including the Gonzo Bomb, King became a fan-favorite big man and a multi-time tag champion in ROH.[2]
Bandido, by contrast, earned acclaim worldwide as a high-flying lucha-libre specialist from Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico. A former ROH World Champion, Bandido gained recognition for his speed, resilience, and innovative aerial offense, highlighted by his finishing move, the 21-Plex.[3]
Though they had occasionally crossed paths in multi-man matches on AEW programming and independent events, King and Bandido had never been paired as a dedicated tag team prior to 2025. Their combination of King’s raw strength and Bandido’s high-speed aerial style was seen as complementary, a blend of power and agility that brought a new dynamic to AEW’s tag-team division.
The duo officially announced their partnership under the name Brodido on the July 31, 2025 episode of AEW Dynamite, marking the beginning of their run as a full-time tag team.[4]
History
Formation (July 2025)
Brody King, a powerhouse known for his work with the House of Black and his run as a ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion, and Bandido, a former ROH World Champion celebrated for his lucha-libre style, first teased a partnership in late July 2025. On the July 31, 2025 episode of AEW Dynamite, the two officially aligned as a tag team under the name Brodido. The name combined “Brody” and “Bandido,” highlighting the pairing’s blend of King’s brute-force brawling with Bandido’s high-flying agility. Their surprise alliance was met with positive fan reaction, as both men were already established singles stars in AEW’s roster.
Early matches and rising momentum (July–August 2025)
Shortly after their announcement as a team, Brodido began wrestling on both AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision, quickly climbing the tag-team ranks. They earned their first televised victory as a team on the August 7, 2025 episode of Collision, defeating Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) in a competitive match that showcased King’s power offense and Bandido’s aerial counters.[5]
Their early performances built momentum heading into the AEW tag division’s summer storyline, where then-champions FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) were seeking fresh challengers.
AEW World Tag Team Championship reign (August 2025–present)
On August 24, 2025, at a special championship edition of Dynamite, Brodido challenged FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The match highlighted King’s brute strength in isolating Wheeler and Bandido’s high-risk dives to neutralize Harwood outside the ring. Brodido captured the titles after Bandido pinned Wheeler with his signature 21-Plex following King’s Gonzo Bomb, marking their first reign as AEW World Tag Team Champions.[6]
Following their championship victory, Brodido defended the titles against veteran teams including The Young Bucks and The Acclaimed during AEW’s autumn tour, solidifying themselves as one of the top duos in the promotion’s modern tag-team scene.[7]
