Founder of Spacecubed, Brodie McCulloch is a startup and co-working champion standing for the position of Lord Mayor of Perth in the City of Perth 2020 elections.[1]
He announced his campaign on 31st July 2020.[2]
Brodie set up Spacecubed at 45 St George's Terrace, Perth in 2012, the first co-working space of its kind in the city, with Tom Tolchard. It held the first Startup Weekend in September of that year, opening a second space (at 191 St George's Terrace) in Perth at Flux in mid 2019.[3]. The original space was renamed 'Riff'.
Together, Spacecubed runs over 5,500 square metres of co-working spaces in Perth, housing 300 organisations and 800 staff (mid 2020). 10,000 people attended events in these spaces in 2019. The Plus Eight Accelerator has run out of Flux every year since 2017.[4]
