Brooke Lark (Formerly Brooke McLay) is a food photographer, blogger, recipe developer, and cookbook author. [1] She currently runs the BrookeLark.com website which focuses on teaching food photography, styling, and techniques for building a creative career. She is also the owner of Lark & Co. a digital marketing agency for companies that require food-related content. She is a professional photographer who has been featured in multiple news articles, and magazines such as Where Women Cook[2] .

Blog and Career[edit]

Brooke created her first blog, Conversations with a Cupcake in 2007.[3][4] The blog frequently focused on baked goods that were personified with drawn on faces, usually saying something uplifting or funny. In 2010 she changed the name of her blog to Cheeky Kitchen[5] and her style of photography changed as well, no longer personifying the photographs of food. She transitioned from baked goods to health foods and specific diets, ranging from vegan to paleolithic.

In 2014 she released her first printed cookbook, "Almonds Every Which Way".[6] It was a collection of almond based recipes, both sweet and savory. Later that year she also released "The Everything Mediterranean Slow Cooker Cookbook". She has also released several digital cookbooks on her website.

In 2016 she transitioned away from blogging and changed Cheeky Kitchen to BrookeLark.com. Her website is now teaching grounds for aspiring food photographers and bloggers and no longer is a blog for food or recipes. She frequently posts tutorials, guides, and motivational videos for individuals seeking to build a career in the food and blogging industry. She began posting some of her photography to Unsplash, a copy-right free image sharing website. In the food category, she is one of their top contributors for food-related photos.

Beginning in 2017, she founded Lark and Co. a marketing and content creation agency for companies and brands that require food related content.

In June of 2018 she started publishing a podcast entitled "Creative Sherpa" which supplemented her teaching on the Brooke Lark website.

Personal Life[edit]

Brooke has four children[7]: Andrew, Rebecca, Alyssa, and Jacob. She divorced her husband and left the LDS church in 2012.[8] She frequently discusses working as a single mother on her blog and social channels. She also founded a support network for single mothers, Unomum.

In 2013 Brooke and her children moved to Salt Lake City where she established a professional studio that she works out of.
