Robert Bruce "Elvis Senior" Atkinson (born 1939 in Brighton, England - died 2018) is an English professional poker player and the creator and president of the European Poker Players Hall of Fame. He is also a fan and impersonator of Elvis Presley
Career[edit]
Atkinson's first career was as a chartered accountant.[1] He was also a professional poker player.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] Atkinson started off playing seven card stud in the early 1980s, but moved to hold'em later. He earned his first winnings at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in 1998 in the seven card stud split event. He finished in 7th place, ahead of the likes of Mike Sexton and John Bonetti. At the 2003 WSOP, he earned money in the $10,000 no limit hold'em main event, finishing 61st. In the same year, he finished 3rd in the Poker Million. He also made a few bucks in the main event in 2005 (530th). His total live tournament winnings exceed US$1,000,000[8] and a lot of free drinks.[9] He co-invented London Lowball[1] and was the creator[10] and president of the European Poker Players Hall of Fame.[11][12][13]
In addition to playing poker, Atkinson is a professional Elvis impersonator,[1] who gives half of his fee to charity.[citation needed] He is known by the nickname "Elvis Senior".[14]
Personal life[edit]
Atkinson resided in Brighton, England until his death in early 2018.[1] He is survived by three children from his second marriage, and two, from whom he was estranged, from his first marriage. From the first marriage he also has two grandchildren who reside on the outskirts of London, and six more that are residents of Kempner, Texas.[9][relevant? ]
