Bruce Harwood is an Australian politician who is currently Mayor of Geelong and councillor for Kardinia Ward.[1]

Early life[edit]

Harwood was a police officer for 28 years and is the operator of two local businesses.[2][3]

Political Career[edit]

Harwood was first elected to City of Greater Geelong council in 2003 when he won a by-election in the Kardiana ward.[4] He retained this position in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 general elections.

In the 2017 Greater Geelong City Council election under the new multi-member ward system, Harwood along with Pat Murnane and Ron Nelson were elected to represent the new Kardinida ward comprising of Armstrong Creek, Belmont, Ceres, Grovedale, Highton, Marshall, Mount Duneed, Wandana Heights and Waurn Ponds.[5][6]

Harwood was first elected mayor in 2006 and was acting mayor when Keith Fagg retired in 2013.[7] He was also deputy Mayor in 2010.[8]
